With Steff Oates TSTA(P)
21st February 2010
Psychotherapy is often referred to as the ‘talking cure’ with an assumption that words are of the essence. However our clients ‘talk’ to us and we to them in many different ways. TA practitioners are often taught that a fundamental principle of TA is that ‘everyone has the capacity to think’.
This workshop will explore varying levels of communication and thinking. We will draw on Berne´s idea of primal protocol, which he described as forming the original skeleton of the script, to help us explore a more organic process of meaning-making through experience.
Steff Oates runs a private psychotherapy and supervision practice in Cheshire and is visiting trainer to institutes in London, Paris and Geneva. She has carried a passion for understanding processes not symbolised or verbalised since her earliest days in training and has undertaken ten years in body psychotherapy training. With three other colleagues she is co-founder of the Northern College for Body Psychotherapy.
